How to choose different nozzles in different industries

Aug 15,2022

Since the nozzle is designed to work under a variety of different spray conditions, select the nozzle that suits the needs in order to achieve the best spray performance in use. The characteristics of the nozzle are mainly reflected in the spray type of the nozzle, that is, the shape formed by the liquid as it leaves the nozzle opening and its operating performance. The naming of nozzles is based on the shape of the spray, which can be divided into fan, cone, liquid column flow (ie jet), air atomization, and flat nozzle, among which cone nozzles are divided into two categories: hollow cone and solid cone;
How to choose different nozzles in different industries

The factors for selecting nozzles are flow rate, pressure, spray angle, coverage, impact force, temperature, material, application, etc., and these factors are often involved and restrict each other. Flow and pressure, spray angle and coverage are proportional. The purpose of spraying any nozzle is to maintain continuous contact of the bath fluid with the workpiece, and flow is a more important factor than pressure. The temperature of the liquid does not affect the spray performance of the nozzle, but it affects the viscosity and specific gravity, as well as the choice of material.

The material of the nozzle should also be determined according to the chemical characteristics of the bath liquid:

1. For non-corrosive bath liquid, bronze casting or plastic die casting can be used according to the difficulty of processing;

2. In order to prevent corrosion, non-metallic materials can be used;

3. Nylon plastic can be used for strong corrosion baths such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid;

4. The nozzle material for phosphating bath is generally made of acid-resistant stainless steel;

5. The nozzle to prevent corrosion can also be directly made of stainless steel or nylon.

Nozzle selection method:

The nozzle with a certain impact force should use a small-angle nozzle, preferably a liquid column flow (ie jet);

The fan-shaped nozzle is suitable for cleaning, degreasing, cooling, etc., and the conical nozzle is suitable for rinsing, surface layer, phosphating, humidification, dust removal, etc.;

For the nozzle of degreasing and water washing process, a jet nozzle with strong impact force can be selected: take the "V" type fan nozzle as an example, its spray angle is preferably 60°, which has a large impact force;

The nozzle of the phosphating process can choose a centrifugal nozzle with good atomization, fine and uniform water particles and weak impact force: take the "Z" type or conical nozzle as an example, the optimal distance between the nozzle and the workpiece is 40cm ~ 50cm, with Dispersion, the spray effect of atomizing the liquid.
